Invisalign®

Invisalign® is a state-of-the-art alternative to braces that is virtually undetectable to other people. A series of clear removable aligners are used to straighten your teeth without the need for metal wires or brackets that could irritate your mouth. The aligners are made through a combination of Dr. Sonne’s or Shapiro's expertise and 3-D computer imaging technology.

Can it help me?

Have you always wanted straighter teeth? Even if your smile needs major changes, Invisalign might be right for you!

Invisalign® can help correct the following common problems:

  • Crowded, overlapping teeth
  • Spaced teeth
  • Overbites
  • Underbites

How is it made?

Once Dr. Sonne or Dr. Shapiro has determined that Invisalign® is the proper treatment for you, precise treatment instructions, along with a set of impressions, are sent to Invisalign®. Using the most sophisticated CT scanning technology, the impressions are scanned, and a virtual model of the teeth is created. Then, the teeth are moved “virtually” into the desired position, according to the precise prescriptions given by Dr. Sonne and Dr. Shapiro. Invisalign® then translates these instructions into a sequence of finely calibrated aligners, each designed to move the teeth a precise amount.

How long does it take?

Typical treatment time is about 12 months, significantly shorter than conventional braces! The specific number of aligners you will need to wear varies on an individual basis. You'll wear each aligner for about two weeks and only take it out for eating, brushing and flossing. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will move gradually, week by week, until they move into the final alignment prescribed by Dr. Sonne or Dr. Shapiro. Then you'll have the smile you have always dreamed of!
